same with Ian - 8:30am Gym. It's the one day where we don't have to pre-bolus for breakfast!
Mandy checks 6-8 times while at school...Mandy has NO hypoglycemic awareness!!! School will not allow her to carry supplies, hence she must go to nurses office for all care.....Since August she has been to nurse over 200 times!
School begins 9 am
Midmorning/after breakfast 10:15
Before lunch 11:25
Before PE 1 pm
Before snack 2:15
Bolus after snack
Before walking home
Additional trips to nurse required when complains of health/symptoms
Christian tests at nutrition (before PE), after PE (he can drop more than 100 points during PE) and before lunch. Then any other time he feels he may be out of range.
Are experience has been very similar to this. Before CGMS we would check:
Before getting on the bus
**as well as any other time, bg felt off
Now after cgms, the only "scheduled" checks are before lunch and before getting on the bus. If the cgms is working properly, we have had days where we are only out of the classroom two times for bgs checks and in range the rest of the time. Of course he is allowed to go to the nurses office anytime he feels a low/high or something just doesn't seem right.
Right now school checks at 10am, 11:40 am (before lunch) and 3pm.
David is in Kindergarten but doesn't get home til 2:30. He eats his snack earlier than the other kids in his class as his insulin peaks before 10:00.
BG test- 10:00 before going out on playground
BG test 11:30 before lunch
BG test 1:30 before getting on bus
plus he tests before gym and anytime he feels low.
Nate checks at:
1:45PM (before bus)
And anytime he may feel low.
He is in Health class now, and does not have PE until next trimester. Once he has PE, he will test before and after.
