Last night my son had a headacke and I wasn't sure what I could give him.
I believe just acetaminophen. We haven't used that in a long time anyway.
my go to is Motrin/ ibuprophren
stay away from Tylenol/ acetaminophen or mixed meds with it.
Not everyone has the acetaminophen problem with Dex. You should err on the side of caution per the User's Guide, but sometimes it can't be avoided. My kid has zero problems with Dex and acetaminophen.
If during the day when you can do frequent fingersticks, I'd use this as an opportunity to see if your kiddo is one of the lucky ones with whom acetaminophen does not affect Dexcom accuracy.
I too avoid acetaminophen due to Dex's suggestions, but there was one time I had no choice. And we had NO accuracy issues at all!!! I was very surprised but happy!!!
the last time my son had a cold, I gave him cold medicine, multiple times , that included acetaminophen before I remembered the warnings, yet we had no accuracy issues either.
Thanks!Will try and see.
