I am just curious from a previous thread if our carb amount is low for a teenager(male) . All our carb data comes from the pump.
My 16 year son - carb average per day is 247g
He weighs about 145 pounds and has been diabetic 13 years.

80 - 150 per day... special holidays or eating out would push that up considerably. She's 15 years old, D for 10 years.

Judging from your previous post I'm guessing that this I:C ration must be rather high - like 1:15 or higher? I would guess 250g of carbs is normal for a teen boy.

His breakfast ratio is 1:12 and rest of day 1:15. Except after 11pm it goes to 1:18 if he eats late at night. Switches back to 1:12 early at 5am

Avg. is about 270 here. (and he's about 120lbs, almost 13) We eat a lot of pasta. But he also drinks a lot of milk and eats a lot of fruit and yogurt. Most dinners can be 52g of carb in milk alone.

Surprisingly, the days where he eats the most carbs are not always the days where his BGs are the most erratic.

Wow - My Son is almost 15 and has grown over 4 inches this year alone. He averages about 300 carbs per day. He is also VERY INSULIN RESISTANT. His ratios are 1:4 in the morning and 1:5 the rest of the day. We go through a TON of insulin. The Dr. seems to think we are at the end of his growth spurt....he is now 5'10-1/2" and wears a size 13 shoe. I don't think he is even close to being done growing.:)

Do you know how much insulin per kg of weight he's taking? Our dr seemed to indicate that in teen boys it wasn't a big issue until they got beyond 2u per kg that it would be considered insulin resistance. (and he's doing a study on adding metformin for those kids)

I'm just wondering if what you're seeing is normal teen insulin resistance vs something more. :)

I don't have his data with me right now, but it's probably about in that neighborhood for my 11 year old. It varies quite a bit from day to day, but 250 carb average doesn't sound that high.

According to the food labels, an adult with a 2000 calorie diet should eat 300 carbs. Just to put it into perspective.

    Hope this helps!

No idea on carbs as he doesn't enter that into pump, he enters units.

His basal is 37 per day, total daily use tends to be around 75-100 units.
Carb ratios are 1:5 in the morning and 1:7 the rest of the day, correction is 1:20 over 100.

I think your carb average is pretty standard, but he seems to need less insulin/is more sensitive than many teens.

It varies by the day, but my 14 year old (90 something pounds - still small for his age) eats around 300 carbs a day....he basically eats an entire meal for his afternoon snack every day after school! His i:c ratio is 1/7...

19, currently 100-150 covered carbs a day, 50-100 uncovered carbs for running about 4 days a week.

250 carbs seems normal for a teenage boy. My boyfriend (age 20, 6'3 maybe 175 lbs) eats around 300-400 carbs a day I would guess but a ton of that is milk.

9 year old girl. About 150 per day. 50 of that is breakfast because she loves cereal.
