    my ds was dx'd at a very early stage. I don't remember specifics other than he was off of insulin very soon after he started, within 2 weeks.
    He was on NO insulin for a bit and then started on a half unit of lantus.

    We tested him before meals, but didn't have to give insulin for many months. It sure helped us to ease in to the dx.

    Yes, Darryl my daughter was diagnosed and not put on insulin immediately. The Endo. said that a small amount of insulin would bring her low too low. He had us to check blood sugars and watch her. We did follow-ups, too.

    So, still no call from the doctor. Kind of frustrated. This is the second time I was told the doctor would call me back and I've heard nothing.

    Guess I will call them back.
