Second Child positive for antibodies..

His A1c is 5.7, so now we are testing twice a day and are looking into reserach studies.

I'd like to find out what "side effects" can happen from the different studies. We a lot of homework to do right away.

Sounds like you are focusing on the positive. I am so sorry. I think about this happening all the time.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I worry about my DD's two younger brothers and are constantly checking them every time they drink more than usual or wet the bed. I know they say siblings have only a small chance of being diabetic, but it looks to me that there are quite a lot of folks out there that have more than one kid diagnosed....Best of luck with finding a good clinical trial. I would be interested to hear what trial you get involved with. Sorry again....

 

Well, with that A1C hopefully he will not be DX'd at this time and can enter a Prevetative study, rather than a new onset study.

We are hoping to get my dd into the oral insulin study in 6 months if everything stays the same as it is now.

Sorry to hear of your bad news. I know exactly how it feels and it is just as tough as the first dx. Good luck with the research into keeping the beta cells going.

I hope you do better than I did, the day we got the second dx we forgot the first kids insulin.

I actually had a tougher time with the second child diagnosed. You know what you are in for. But you also have a lot of skills and are not like a deer in the headlights. Sorry to hear, but you obviously caught it early. Good job!
