We are umping un-tethered for a year now, doing good with steadier A1C's.
I have no doubt that this is true, especially with regard to CGM'ing. Also, just having a group that attends to and shares information on new technology, new iterations of existing devices and tips on how to encourage endos and insurance companies to support newer releases is key.
My son was on shots for many years, then tried the mm pump/sensor for a year and didn't love it, so went back onto shots for 6 months. He has been using Ping for 2 years, but also uses Lantus. He has been using Dexcom for 4 months and likes the Dexcom so much better than the MM cgm.
I find that sometimes it is a mixture of what works for others that will work for your child.
