Brooke starts 3rd grade this year. She is starting to become really independent with her care to the point that I'm comfortable with her doing most of her care at school with no assistance. The nurse is there and always checks over dosages before Brooke injects herself but for all other matters, if she does need help, the nurse only helps when Brooke asks for it. However, Brooke starting pumping a little more than a month ago and I'm not sure if operating her pump is something I want the nurse to handle or whether I want to let Brooke do it. She goes back to school in about 3 weeks so I would have that much time to teach her the basic things I think she needs to know to operate her pump at school. She is independent and told us at the end of last school year she didn't want the nurse doing everything for her anymore but I don't know if a pump is something that an 8 year old can learn to manage in just a few weeks. Any suggestions?
