I am not one to ask for much but I think I need some love!

My husband is going on the first push to Samoa to help with the Tsunami that happened today in the Pacific Islands.

We don't know what he is going to face although we know it is going to be bad. He was among the first to be sent to the tsunami in 2004 and is still dealing with post traumatic stress with what he saw and did.

I don't know how he is going to deal with it again. I'm not even sure how the boys and I are going to deal with the aftermath again but like the troopers we are, I know we will get through it.

Just some love/support and good wishes would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks guys.

He is going either tonight or early tomorrow morning. The air force are loading up as I write and we are just waiting for the flight time. We have no idea how long he will be gone.

Last time was really really bad. He still has nightmares about things. Won't go into detail, but I saw the pictures and I can only imagine what he went through. Judging by the tv pictures, this is going to be the same. He is a bit of a wreck right now and our year of non smoking has just gone up in smoke - excuse the pun!

Unfortunately, being a photographer, he will be seeing things that others won't see and even when he is home, he will be looking at the photos over and over again for briefings and other things. Each time he sees the photos from the 2004 tsunami, he relives it all over again. I imagine this time will be no different. And of course there are also the aftershocks and risks of further tsunamis for us to worry about.:(

All part of the job unfortunately. Not fun but essential.
Last time I learnt that while he went to the tsunami and it changed him, things at home changed too. He has panic attacks in water, and living by the sea with two boys who love to swim in it makes it difficult! Luckily the boys are fairly understanding.

I am extremely proud of him for what he does but I also worry about what is going to happen after. I guess time will tell!:(

Debs, prayers being sent for your husband and your family that you may all find strength. I can understand your feelings; the pictures we're seeing here are pretty horrific. You must be very proud of your DH. ((HUGS))

My dh is from American Samoa. He has family there. We've heard from some, nothing from others. No word on the shape of his property or the family cemetary, etc. My deepest and most sincere thanks to you for supporting your husband and to your husband for his mission. Prayers are with him!

Debs, I can not imagine what you are going through, or the rest of your family. For your dh to go through this twice is really unfair. Lots of hugs, and well wishes for all of you across the miles.
