HI I am a Type I Diabetic since 2004 and I am currently working on a senior project about A1cs. I would appreciate for anyone that would please give me the age and your last A1c number to use in my project. Age 13. 6.2 Are you taking into account that the parents on this site are highly motivated and may (probably) does not reflect the general Type 1 population? I expect if you got data from an endo, the data would look very different.
I also think from our group of highly motivated parents and adults and kids, you're going to get posts from a self-selected group that might include people with lower a1c's rather than higher. It is sort of like asking people what the GPA is in high school. People with a higher GPA are more proud of it - and I'm guessing more likely to want to share that publicly with others. If you could set up an anonymous poll on this site for people to enter the A1C and the age of the person - then I think you'd have a better sample. It still would not be indicative of what is typical though.:cwds:
Why not go and sort through members on tudiabetes? There there are zillions of diabetics with their A1cs and ages on their profiles. I'm 23 and my last A1c was 6.2%.
My DS's first and only A1c from two months ago(at diagnosis) was 14+ That's as high as the measurement would go, they said. I myself am prediabetic and mine was last checked at 5.9. Good luck with your project!!
