My 14 year old diabetic was doing great right after school left out, lots of energy, not napping except maybe once a week. He went to camp for a week (no dexcom because we didn't get sensors ordered in time) did okay without dex, but probably a few more highs than I would have liked, but he survived.

Since he got home almost a week ago, his numbers have been a bit all over the place (just got dexcom back on Wednesday). He has been having night sweats on and off for a while, but nothing consistent. However, he does like to wrap himself up in blankets even when it is warm out. thankfully the nights have been cool. My dad is a type 1 diabetic and he always sweated quite a bit while I lived at home.

Aaron always did need his sleep, but he is in high school marching band this year and I hope he can keep up with the fast pace and long days that are ahead. I will be going on most trips for at least the first part of marching season. He has been napping nearly every day at home, but he is also more active (riding bike and doing other things than he normally does when school is in), but his level of tiredness has me concerned. We have his D appointment a week from today and I need to get well child appointments made for all three of my boys before school starts. Maybe it is just my anxiety getting the best of me. I am thinking it is probably just a growth spurt, as he does seem to be getting a bit taller and his voice is changing more. My almost 17 year old seems to be a bit more on the tired side, too. I am sure the later nights and lack of a schedule aren't good either, which I am trying to get them to be more aware of.

Thanks for listening to me ramble.

My teens 17 and 20 now, both type 1, hardly every nap. Could he be coming down with something? Did D appointment give you any insight?

When was the last time his thyroid levels were checked?

    Hyperthyroid symptom list: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hyperthyroidism/basics/symptoms/con-20020986

Your description reminds me of hypothyroidism. However, I'm including links for both because my daughter was hyperthyroid (Graves' disease) but her symptoms were actually more like the hypo list than the hyper ones so I'm not a big believer in the differences being as strong as the two lists suggest.

I think his thyroid was checked in October at his yearly blood work. His appointment isn't until this coming Friday, so I will ask her then. His numbers have been wacky, too, which leads me to think it is still a growth spurt.
