I am looking to going to Kauai with 4 of our kids (15, 10, 8, 5) and my 2 parents in May and really am stuck! (8 people)

Do any of you have suggestions for places you may have stayed that you loved!!!

We are looking at a couple rental homes (3 bdrm) for about $250/night that are pretty darn close to poipu that seem great but without any first hand knowledge it is so hard to tell.

Wish we had a pool but not necessary, after all we are in Hawaii.
Want 2-3 bedrooms, who cares if kids sleep on the floor or couch.
need to be affordable b/c we have to pay for plane fare for 6!!
Want to be VERY close to the beach.
    Go Condo/Hotel/rental? benefits of each?
Love the idea of a washer and dryer!!!

    Please help!!!!!!!!

when we went to hawaii 5 yrs ago, we were on the Oahu island.

we were in a condo developement that had community pools, gated community, short walk to beach

    you could try VRBO

We stayed in Poipu on Kauai, at a Marriot Beach Club. They have 2 bedroom condos w/ full kitchens and washer/dryer. Kids pool as well as adult, right on on the beach. Near golf courses as well.

I second VRBO.com as well if you want to try privately owned homes. Have fun!:)

I'm not sure how much groceries are on Kaui, but they were a lot on Oahu.
but nothing was as bad as USVI-St John-gallon of milk was 10.

I've heard of some people freezing there meat and bringing it in extra suitcase.
they should have some forums over at traveladvisor

I am so jealous. We lived on Oahu for 3 years and visited Kauai, Island of Hawaii and Maui. My favorite by far is Kauai. I can't remember the name of the place we stayed.

I would recommend getting a book called Hidden Hawaii. It details the islands including restaurants (pricey or not) and some great more local places to visit not all tourist stops. Have a WONDERFUL TIME!!!!
