Ashleigh gets 18 units. She's 11 years old
Steven is 9, has had d for 6 years and is 72 LBs. He gets 13 units as of 2 days ago
Sara is 6 years old, 4' 2", 74lbs and gets 13 units.
My dd is getting 2.5 units of Lantus and about the same amount of basal Novolog from her pump, for a total of about 5 units of basal insulin per day. She's 9, diagnosed 2.5 years ago.
Brooke is 3, 40 lbs. 2 months ago we were at 2 units, now we're at 6. She was dx in Jan.
Cass is 10, 5' 2", 100 pounds and she was diagnosed in April. We just increased her Lantus to 10 units about two weeks ago.
Kayla is 14, 5 foot 5 and 105 lbs. She is still on 4 units. Things look stable still with middle of the afternoons in the 100-130's with no food or fast acting.
Jackson is pumping but his basal is about 22 units a day. He is 13 and weighs 105 lbs. That is close to what he started at when dx - Levemir 20 units a day.
EDIT: Oops, sorry, didn't read that you were talking about Lantus! His basal is all through the pump.
Luke is 4 and weighs 40lbs. He gets 3.85 units of basal per day. He was diagnosed 2 years ago.
Thanks for the replies, we will be switching back to MDI with Lantus and Novorapid soon. Leah is 10, 4' 5", 53 lbs and her basal is 8 units.
Please keep replying.
When we use it (untethered for swimming), it's 8U. Abby is 65lbs.
Diagnosed Feb 2010, weight 175, almost 16 years old, clearly still honeymooning at 9 units of Lantus daily.
My son is 8 years old, 52 inches in height and weights 60 lbs, he takes 8 lantus total daily, 7 unit in am and 1 unit in pm. He was diagnosis 6 years ago.
Wow...our kids are the same age, and about 9 inches and 50 pounds apart! I only mention it because every time I see Cass in a group of her friends, I always think she looks more like their older sister than one of their peers...
My Vince was dx 12/26/09, started with 27U Lantus, now down to 20U Lantus, he is 5' 8" and 121 lbs. :cwds: (which may be reduced soon do to football ...)
Andrew was dx'd 4 months ago, and he is still honeymooning... he is 12, weighs 90lbs and is taking 6 units of Lantus (at one point he was down to 1 unit of Lantus, so 6 units is an increase!)
Campbell is 12, 5'3" and about 116 pounds and takes 36 units of lantus.
Samantha is still honeymooning and so she gets a total of 2 units of lantus a day-split 1 unit twice a day. No fast acting yet, we tried a small bit once and it brought her to low.
Is there some sort of comparison you're looking for?
My 17 year old (6'2", 180#) uses a total of 16.5 split 5.5 AM/11.0 PM. Summer dose is always significantly lower than winter.
When he is undergoing particularly strenuous activity, he gets on just fine with Lantus alone (no fast acting even to cover meals) but this is definitely a case of YDMV.
