At our next endo visit I am planning on asking if we can reduce our visits to twice a year rather than 4 times a year. We currently travel an hour - which I know is not terribly long - but I feel like all we accomplish is checking his a1c which recently has consistently been under 7. So I'd like to check at home the other 2 times if possible and I am wondering if anyone else does this?

We just went to Caleb's 5 year physical and the pediatrician indicated they could do the a1c test the other 2 times a year, which is another alternative, but again, if there's a simple way to get it at home, the less dr visits the better in my opinion.

There was just a discussion on which tests were tried and true at home the other day, maybe a week ago.
With that said,CVS brand was recommended to me and I have yet to be able to find a CVS who carries one or even knows what I am talking about.
Anyway, we have the same wonders, because the drive is the same as yours and our specialist copay is $40.00. We see them every 3 months, then have to travel to a seperate lab and get the bloodwork. Very frustrating.
Sorry for no other advice though but check the past history on this and you might find something. I think I remember someone posting a home test kit that they liked and the price wasn't too bad???
