my son is a freshman...going to homecoming this weekend. Going with a friend...but I wonder are corsages still the norm?

My opinion is yes, definitely needed!! But...that is myself being girly girl at heart:)

My only friends with kids this age/older were not into school dances & such...so I need opinions please!!

Much to my dismay, the kids here do not do corsages or even mums for homecoming. They do corsages for prom but not for any of the other dances. It makes me sad.

They sometimes do here. It is very special and makes the young lady in question feel beautiful and treasured. I think it is coming back into fashion and I am glad. It is such a thoughtful thing to do - especially when colours match dresses etc. (A mums collaborative effort) LOL

they still do them here - but only for certain dances. Homecoming tends to be a little less formal than prom at our school, so no corsages, and most of the kids go with friends or solo rather than dates. Prom, 100% absolutely. Matched to the dress. :) Boutonnniere for the guys to match too.

I'd have your son ask the girl what her friends are all doing.

At least they don't do those god aweful mum things. lol

For homecoming here, they do the Mums, not corsages.. For prom Corsages are used.. I like the others would have your son ask around and see what others are planning to do..

Here in Ohio, corsages are still the norm for Homecoming and Prom.

Ya GOTTA love Texas! :) I made a Mum for Brandi and her boyfriend for homecoming but apparently they aren't really popular at her school.

My EYES! MY EYES! THEY BLEED!

    Ahem.

Around here, they do corsages for prom, but not for homecoming.

Personally, I think they're all kind of stupid-looking.

My daughter went with her guy "friend". He got her a beautiful corsage that matched her dress and his tie. Very lovely. :)

Homecoming is a casual dance here...no formal dress or flowers.

Twirps..which is girl ask boy...is formal as is Prom and requires the corsage.

LOL! I think it was me that started the whole mum conversation last year! We do everything bigger in TEXAS, and guys, that mum that Brandi is wearing is conservative... at least to what WE use to carry. They are shying away from the big ones more, and the girls are even wearing the arm mum the boys usually wear.

In our district it's mums for homecoming (although I never did go to the dance). You should see the mums that the primary kids wear! They're HUGE!

Mums and more mums for homecoming. My daughter wore one huge one and three smaller ones. I wish I could get a picture. The large mum had a Barbie on it!
