Today is Tuesday in New Zealand. It is also the day of the funeral service for Eilish. This is probably one of the most difficult days this family has had to endure recently. My thoughts are with them.

She was so very, very special
And was so from the start
You held her in your arms
    But mainly in your heart

And like a single drop of rain
    That on still waters fall,
    Her life did ripples make
And touched the lives of all.

She's gone to play with angels
    In heaven up above
    So keep your special memories
    And treasure them with love

    Although your darling daughter
Was with you just a while
She'll live on in your heart
    With a sweet remembered smile

The whole thing is completely heartbreaking. My prayers are with Mel, Charlie and Ella today, as they do one of the most difficult things a family could imagine. Eilish was a wonderful person, who touched us all.

On the 4th March this year, my 14 year old daughter was dx with type 1, I felt like I was searching the whole world to try and find a Mum who understood, one night, when I was at my lowest ebb, (ironically after attending a funeral of a dear friend I had to lost to cancer, a week after we had lost the school Priest to cancer also) Mel rang me via a phone call from her Mums hairdresser, New Zealand is a small word, esp Southland!!

I will never forget that conversation, we instantly became good friends, we "both got it", its hell being a type 1 Mum, we have thrashed it out many a time, how hellish this life was for us, the family, and most importantly our girls.

Mel stressed for me to get onto this forum, she said it kept her sane, I did but I don't speak often.

However I wish you all to know Laura (type 1 daughter) and myself went to Eilish's funeral today, it was a lovely tribute, Mel and the family put so much effort into it. It was expressed in many forms how cruel type 1 is, and two emails were read also, one from Ellen and one from Tom, the Diabetic dad, not sure if I got that last name right?

Mel did her upmost to highlight the hell we all live as Type 1 parents,as per usual Mel, thinking of others, and we were wearing our heart on our sleeve for you today!!

I so felt your pain Mel, from the bottom of heart!

Eilish was also a very talented girl/teen in her music and her writing capacity, and neat sense of humour.

Her inner beauty just shone with her sheer raw talent, and its such a loss to this world, that its gone.

No words can express the heartache Mel and her family feel at present, its undescribeable, and it will be for a long time, but she has a lot of family support and very dear friends.

Hoping all the other type 1 kids out there are safe and sound.

    Pepper 1.

Mother of Laura type 1 dx 4 March 2010 and celiac also.

Chris, that is a beautiful tribute.

Pepper 1, I am so glad that you were able to represent al of us at the funeral. Although i was not physically there, I was present in spirit.

May Eilish's family be comforted in knowing that all of us here in the CWD forum are grieving along side them.

Can not begin to imagine the heartbreak for this family, the strength it will take to even go on. Hoping it brings them comfort to know so many CWD families are grieving with them for the senseless loss of their beautiful daughter.
