Today we met with our new Endo. She seems very nice, helpful and knowledgable.

The old Endo told me that I did not need to worry about checking his feet, that was a myth. She said only older Type 2's need to worry about feet.

The new Endo checked his feet and made a very big deal about always making sure they are clean, no sores, no dry skin, change socks during sports, dry between toes...

I am just wondering with your Endo says or does.

Not only does she check but that last time we went he had a sore from riding his bike and his shoe fell off, she was not taking any chances with infection and prescribed an antibiotic.

My peds. endo. never checked my feet, but always told me I should be checking them whenever I am drying off after a shower. My adult endo. who I have been seeing for a few years always checks my feet thoroughly and uses the tuning forks (vibration sense) and the paperclip to check my sensation. I have never had any problems, but they say I need to bring up any new findings or problems with my feet right away.

Well that was what the "tuning thing" on his feet were for!!! LOL, boy I learn something new every day with D!

I guess this just validates why I left the old Endo practice.....

No here either. I asked our podiatrist about it, and he said that until she's in her 30s it wasn't really necessary, but that if she started to have any problems with her feet or sores on her feet that weren't healing, get her in right away.

I'm not sure our old practice even knew she had feet. It was all about the A1c, but our new doc gives her a quick all over and really talks with her about D and life and pretty much everything while she's doing it. So a quick look at the feet but a look;)

Yes, she checks his feet every time. Morgan has a history of poor peripheral circulation anyway, but she pokes and prods his feet.

oh that is sad. Yes, Dr Creech always checks her feet which is her favorite part of the visit because it tickles. LOL. :D My mom lost all feeling in her feet this past year and she said she is extremely thankful because for 20 years she had stabbing sharp burning stinging pains in her feet. Shes been Type 1 since she was 11, shes 59 now.
