Daughter not eating all of lunch

    Yeah, you take BG beforehand and use that number. I'd still think about prebolusing some carbs before she eats, and definitely bolusing for any needed correction before she eats. Otherwise you're probably looking at a nasty spike as you wait for the insulin to catch up with the food.

    My son is bolused before lunch, and then one of the monitors in the cafeteria checks the card I send in with food/carbs each day to make sure he ate everything.

    He's not allowed to throw anything away until she has checked his card, and then he returns it to the nurse.

    If he hasn't eaten everything, she keeps different juice/snacks in her office to make up for whatever it was he didn't/won't eat, and adjusts accordingly.
