We are doing a cruise to Alaska, stopping in Vancouver one night. We were told passports should have more than 3 months from travel date-expiry date. I know this is true for a few countries, but cannot find anything in regards to this online. Any info or links to this would be helpful!
Actually most countries require more than 6 months left from travel to expiration date. I don't really know Canadian requirements for sure, but I think it is time for you guys to update your passports. We were just in Whistler a couple of weeks ago, although Canada does not seem all that foreign from the US, it most certainly it is a foreign country, with real passport control and customs and all. AT&T even wanted to charge me hefty international roaming, calling, and texting rates! I shut my phone off for a whole week in protest.
https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/country/canada.html Passport needs to be valid on the day you enter. Contrast with (for example) Mexico which requires 6 months validity: https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/country/mexico.html
