Bragging

    I just have to brag a bit. This is not about diabetes, but if affecting my type 2 care. Many of you have seen me say that I am overweight. My top weight was 250. I lost over 30 pounds when I was dx'd 17+ yrs ago, but then gained some of it back. Stayed at around 230 for several years and just couldn't seem to lose anymore. Then I lost of few pounds when my hubby died and then had surgery I lost a few more. After I moved to
    CO, I gained some back, but then started losing again. MY goal was to get under 200 pounds. Well for the first time in over 30 years I have accomplished that goal and have maintained it for over a month now.

    I have also lost over an inch in height, so all my slacks are too big. I did buy a couple of pairs when I was in Iowa over Christmas, but have only gotten one pair hemmed. It really felt good to get a smaller size.

    That is awesome, congrats! I'm trying to lose weight right now and man it's soooo hard.

    Good for you - way to go!

    It is hard Jane. My insulin needs have gone way down (type 2)

    Congratulations!

    Did you follow a certain plan like Weight Watchers or others? Did exercise help? I'm trying to incorporate more exercise but as I get older it is tough on the joints!

    Carol no specific plan for most of it. Last summer I watched my granddaughter several days a week and while she played in the pool, I walked laps back and forth the width of the pool. I also did try to watch what I was eating, but I am a big snacker--since I don't like to cook for just me. I really wish we had an indoor pool here as walking in the water is much easier on the joints. And Carol don't talk to me about being old, I am old enough to be your mother. I always said if I got below 200 and kept it that way for a month I would put it on FB. Haven't had the guts to do that yet, so posted here instead. Thank you all for the encouragement. My dr asked me a year ago when I was 211 to try to get down to 190--I'm almost there. Recently I have added a protein shake for one of my meals.
