What are your recommendations for the most thorough books on children with diabetes? Besdies teaching the fundamentals, I'm thinking about something that could also serve as a good reference manual to own. My wife has been checking out different books (she's currently reading Think Like a Pancreas) and I'm wondering about one (or more) to own.

Here's a list of a bunch of books. Those by Peter Chase (Understanding Diabetes) and Ragnar Hanas (Type 1 Diabetes in Children, Adolescents and Young Adults) are good "primers" as is Think Like a Pancreas. Most of the other books are more specific in nature.

    My favorites are
    ~Think Like a Pancreas (Scheiner)
    ~Understanding Diabetes (Chase)
~Type 1 Teens (Hood) - though this is outside of your concerns right now ;) )
~Medical Management of Type 1 Diabetes (Bruce)
~The ADA Complete Guide to Diabetes

For carb counting and such, I like
~The Ultimate Guide to Carb Counting (Scheiner)
~Dana Carpender's Carb Gram Counter (Carpender)

And to help outsiders that want to learn more but don't want to be experts:
~A Field Guide to Type 1 Diabetes (ADA)

We're planning to add Ginger Viera's book on Diabetes Burnout to our collection. It looks like an excellent read.
