I know I haven't been around in what seems like ages to me, but summer's been busy, with work and summer courses, and college is starting soon. So, it's been a bit crazy. But to get to my point...I wrote a poem a few days ago, after having a crappy day of blood sugars with some crazy swings. It just really got me down, so I wrote a poem about it to get it out. I know it might seem a bit corny, but I thought I'd share it with all of you. :cwds:

The HI's and the LO's, blood sugar woes, is diabetes game
Basal rates, targets, and ratios, it's a disease that's hard to tame.
Insulin shots, site changes, and finger pokes, are a daily part of life
Living with type one diabetes is oh so full of strife.
Waking up to a low at 4am is never fun to do,
You take your 15 grams of carbs, oh, if you only knew.
And when you wake the next morning, a high you'll probablly find
A 272 to start the day does not give piece of mind.
Correct the high and start your day, set a reminder to check two hours later
98, you're coming down, how these moments I do saver.
Time for lunch, you test again, you're feeling kind of odd
354, another high? Is there something wrong with this pod?
Has the site become kinked? The insulin gone bad? I have to now check ketones
A roller coaster of highs and lows, the cause, forever unknown.
It's days like these, with wide variation that make your head want to spin
Diabetes, you might beat me up, but I'll never let you win.

Great poem Malyssa! Thats kind of how my day has been going so far. I was low all night then woke up at 436 this morning... great for the first day of college classes. But I will continue to fight back! Thanks for the encouraging poem :cwds:

Thanks everyone! It was going to be a sonnet, but it ended up being 16 lines instead of 14, and I couldn't take away the last two lines...they're my favorite ones! Lol. But thanks again everyone. I'm glad you liked it, makes me happy I shared! :D

Oh no, Rae!! I'm sorry you're having such a yucky blood sugar day today. :( And on the first day of classes!? Not fun at all. :(

Yeah Rae, you keep fighting!! That's what people with diabetes do, we're fighters! Thank you for the complement, and good luck with your classes and the rest of your day!! :)
