I'm Catholic, we do believe God is outside of time. I assumed what she was referring to was a 17th century sort of Puritan belief that some are predestined for heaven and some for hell and nothing you do in this life would change that (which in itself is not as simple as that, of course). From the posts I guessed she was taught a view of God that was some version of this and assumed everyone believed the same thing, so rather than go into it I just tried to inform her that I could believe in God without believing that we are born predestined to hell or heaven. You had a nice explanation, I appreciated it being part of the conversation, but I think at this point some folks are reading everything I say in light of what they already think I'm going to say, so I'm trying to limit myself to just asking what I want to know! Make sense?
