      You could have him eat a smaller lunch, or increase his NPH dose to deal with that, or if he's going to come down from that 305 from the NPH, you could have him eat a smaller lunch and then a small snack later.

      If your insulin is kicking in at the same time as your food, you don't go high after eating, and people taking Novolog or Huamlog or Apidra for food are more likely to have the right amount of insulin at approximately the right time... but it's doable with other insulins.

      I really think having a short acting insulin in addition to NPH is a good idea even if you stick with NPH as a basal though.

      Hi Michelle! I'm in Winter Springs, which is in the Orlando metro area. We spent 4th of July in Ft. Myers Beach a few years ago and loved it.
