I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but my view of CRISPR is that it is a gene editing technique. So having a cool new tool means researchers can now do things they could not do before. But you still need to know how to use the new tool. Is there a gene edit that will cure type-1 diabetes? Right now, the answer is "no". So having a tool for gene editing is not going to lead to a quick cure for type-1, because we don't know what genes need to be edited for a cure.

I do think that there will be a lot of new CRISPR based research, and maybe that new research will lead to a cure. But "raw" CRISPR is not going to quickly and directly lead to a cure. It is a gateway to new, different research.
