We are in need of two responsible individuals this summer; an active teen(15 -17) to act as a CIT and a young adult to be a camp cabin counselor for our 9 year (soon to be 10) year old son with Type 1 diabetes. This paid position would require the candidate to stay from a minimum of three weeks (July 25-August15th) to a maximum of eight weeks (including training) at Camp Walt Whitman (CWW) in Piermont, New Hampshire (June 20-August 15th). While Camp Walt Whitman is a wonderful, nurturing camp, it is not a diabetes camp. Therefore, the applicant must be well practiced and educated in diabetes management and (ideally) the use of an insulin pump.

Our son is an active camper who enjoys swimming, handball, baseball, football, chess, playing music and reading books. He is very social, has a great sense of humor and is fun to be around. Our goal is to hire someone that will help him continue on his road to being independent with his Diabetes management, while staying close at hand to ensure that he is making safe decisions regarding insulin dosing, exercise, and food choices while at camp.

The ideal Applicant(s) will be at least 15-17 for the CIT position. Applicants for the Camp counselor position must have completed one year of college to be eligible. Candidates for both positions should be exceptionally responsible and extremely reliable. The applicant must enjoy working with and around children, and be able to be active alongside our son. The candidates must commit to staying at the summer camp for the prearranged time.
