First I wanted to say THANKS to this board for a tip that I learned quite a while ago and stored away...and had to use yesterday ! I wanted to pass it on as well....because it certainly proved handy to me..... The Precision Blood Ketone Meter knows when strips are past expiration date and won't allow you to use them....you get an error reading. Well at 7:30 yesterday morning my son vomited and I grabbed the ketone meter....yup....all my strips expired January 2009.....it was just a week ago ! AND my prescription was expired so it was going to be a pain to get a new one in a timely fashion......but...... I remembered someone here suggesting that if this occurs....you can CHANGE THE DATE on your METER !! Trick it into letting you use the expired strips ! And it worked like a charm..... OF COURSE I don't recommend using old expired medical equipment....but....we are talking less than a week past expired and sometimes ( middle of the night ) or whatever....you just need something to get by.....this worked like a charm ! Thanks to the previous poster who suggested this !! I never would have thought of it ! And hopefully....this post will trigger something when someone else needs it !!
