I'm going to be giving a talk, hosted by CarbDM, about the general roadmap to a (future) cure.

In a sense, this talk is going to be the exact opposite of my usual blog posts, because I'm covering the entire landscape of research aimed a curing type-1 diabetes. My blogs usually focus on one specific treatment or one small area of research. But in this talk, I'm hoping to put all of them into context. I'm also looking forward to answering questions in person, which I don't get to do on the blog, so please bring your questions!

Here is the information from CarbDM, who is hosting the event:

Peninsula Type 1 Topics: "How T1D Will Be Cured" with Joshua Levy

Hear what Joshua Levy, T1D dad and expert blogger, has to say on "How Type-1 Will Be Cured: A map of all the different paths to a cure, who is working on each path, and how far along are they?"

    Wednesday, October 8, 7 - 9 pm

    Location:

Parents Place, 200 Channing Avenue, Palo Alto

Joshua, I second the request for a video post if possible. I would really appreciate it!

I don't think CarbDM has ever done a live video feed before, so I think that is a long shot.
However, I have asked about recording the presentation and making it available on line.
    I'll let you know.

Wish I had the time and funds to take a day off and fly to Palo Alto. I'd be most interested in hearing what you have to say on this subject. Hopefully we'll have access to the material covered at a later date.

Thanks to the volunteer efforts of Edward Hefter, and with the help of CarbDM, here is a link to my talk on youtube:

Joshua Levy, T1D Dad and blogger, gives a presentation entitled "How Type 1 Will Be Cured: A map of all the different paths to a cure, who is working on each path, and how far along they are"

It is an hour and fifteen minutes long, and I don't really get rolling until about six minutes in, but it is all there. My talk is about 45 minutes, plus I answer questions for about 20 minutes within the talk, and then there are about 20 more minutes of Q&A at the end.

This is part of CarbDM's Youtube channel, which is here:

I loved the "clean" path and the representations of the trials currently in progress. I thought the talk was terrific.
