I have a question Do insurance companies pay for sharps containers?
They probably cost less than your copay, so I would say no. We use a milk jug -- a soda can works too.
We have always just used a an old gatorade bottle marked clearly. Just make sure it doesn't end up in the recycling bin.
We use Gatorade bottles too. And a big cat litter jug.
When ever a family member comes from Canada they bring me a great big yellow sharps container. Shopper's Drug Mart give these out free to their customers, but then charges a fee to get rid of them. Once I have filled the container I close it and put extra tape on it and put it in the garbage. The Canadian family cringe every time I tell them we just put the containers in the garbage.
My Pharmacy here takes the filled container and disposes of it, and gives me a new one! Some pharmacies charge, I have been charged by other pharmacies!
