    10th November 2010

Few 14-year-olds can lay claim to being an author and cycling 100 km for a good cause, but Toowoomba's Sam Webb has achieved both since being diaganosed with type 1 diabetes three years ago.
Sam?s Diabetes Story is a new children?s book published together with Teaching Diabetes kits for primary and high schools as part of a statewide education campaign to raise awareness of the disease and to debunk myths surrounding it.
The book was written by 14 year old Sam Webb, and has been produced by Diabetes Australia ? Queensland.
It is being disseminated to schools registered to host ?Blue Dos? this Friday in association with World Diabetes Day on November 14.
The resources are also available for downloading from the Diabetes Queensland website www.diabetesqld.org.au
Sam initially struggled with diabetes, but after some early hiccups with his management, he now has his diabetes under control.
The condition hasn?t stopped him from achieving in the sporting arena.
