My son is now choosing his pump. He can choose between the Omnipod, Accu Check Combo, Medtronic and Animas Vibe. We have discounted the Combo as it has no distinguishing features. The Animas Vibe I like the fact that it is waterproof but wish it had a handset, the medtronic i like the CGM option though sensors would be self funded but it isn't waterproof, we love the concept of the Omnipod, he is worried about a tube, it's waterproof and the set up looks so fast without him seeing the cannula which for him will be a bonus. He swims 4 times a week during the summer and is in and out of the hot tub. I have read the various threads regarding the issues people had with failure batches a couple of times historically. Has this been resolved? On paper for us it's a no brainer but I'm a bit scared regarding some of the negativity. If I hadn't read those threads I would have gone straight for the omnipod, so I guess I'm looking for some reassurance that the Omnipod is a great choice for some people. My son is 10 years old, hates needles and pain. Can't wait to hear from you.
