Brandon woke up not feeling well this morning, and eventually threw up twice. I gave him Zofran, and he perked up. Relapsed early in the evening, vomiting twice again, followed by another dose of Zofran. Has again perked up. No fever all day.

However, ALL day, he has been no lower than 350, and running high ketones. I have corrected with syringe several times, upped his basal by 10%, pushed water and G2 Gatorade, and it isn't touching BG or ketones.

    Any suggestions??????

Have you called the Endo? If not I think you should...:( With high ketones I think I would be headed to the ER, But he is high so you CAN give more insulin. Call the Endo now.

I'd definitely call the endo on this one. It may be a serious tummy bug and you need stronger meds.
Don't hesitate to go to the ER.

PS - sometimes you really need to be more aggressive with the temp basals too.

Good luck - let us know how it goes! I would have definitely been more aggressive with the basals. We regularly do a 200% temp basal to get J down when he is high.

I too hope that the ER visit has resolved the situation. There is a time for home management and a time for the ER.

    I hope he's better now.

I agree about being more agressive with basals. With Lia if she's running high like that I now have to increase temp basals by 150-200%.

Hope everything's okay and you got out of the hospital quickly!

It's not particularly unusual for me to need a 300% temp basal (well, it's unusual in that it doesn't happen daily.. but it happens, probably about every couple of months).
