So I'm trying to pick through music so I can make an engagement video/a video/a play list of music for my future marriage/our website....can you parents give me a hand finding songs from your guys generation, love songs, that aren't be Celine dion or "My Boo or Shorwty"
In fact I hope you parents don't mind me popping in for wedding planning help occasionally 0_0 but please HELP me find music that doesn't sound like a cat is being killed or is just plain questionable....

THANKS PARENTS, Keep 'em coming I forgot about John Denver I LOVE HIM so much!

This is one we have our play list, it's my gram's FAVORITE SONG she loves dancing, it won't be our first dance song, were still trying to find the perfect song.

What do you guys think of this for the father daughter dance?

We've found some songs, but if I have to listen to one more Celine Dion Song (she's okay but how can one person have so many songs about love, and eventually she starts sounding like a dieing cat....)
I love the stuff you guys are helping me find, I always liked the older love songs....

This was my parents wedding song, Percy Sledge- when a man loves a woman, at least I think it is and I do like it and love it, but it reminds me oddly of my dad, because it's definitely something he picked out.

(He also if I had been a boy wanted to name me Thomas Vernon Edgard Frances, and god lord I wish I was kidding)

I would have suggest my wedding song that Carl and I danced to for our first dance, but considering it was The Righteous Brothers, "You've lost that loving feeling", it didn't seem appropriate!:D

Hubbys choice - got the wrong song. Gives everyone a good laugh though!:D

If you want to get everyone on the dance floor then try "What I Like About You" by the Romantics.

Me and a friend played "White Wedding" by Billy Idol for another friend of ours wedding reception but that would definitely fall into the questionable category.

We are Beatles fans (where Abbey's name comes from) so "Something" from George Harrison, and "Here,There and Everywhere" . I agree with all of the suggestions so far!

I didn't click on all the YouTube videos, so forgive me if any of these are repeats...

Our first dance was to Roberta Flack and Peabo Bryson's "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love for You."

The Captain and Tennille's version of "The Wedding Song" was a 70s/80s standard.

Of course, Journey's "Open Arms" is good.

Further back in the 70s was the Carpenter's "Close to You".

If I was having another wedding, I think I'd have to have Adam Sandler's "I Wanna Grow Old with You" from "The Wedding Singer" soundtrack played during the reception.

And, of course, no wedding reception is complete without Kool and the Gang belting out "Celebration".

I'm missed the father/daughter dance comment earlier, but for my money, the only logical choice is "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle.

Ok, here's something you might not know. I'm a HUGE Bon Jovi fan. (although I'm quite upset about this mushy mush crap they've put out in the past few years) But mostly because Richie Sambora is one of rocks most underated guitar players.

This is the song that DW and I first danced to at our wedding.
Richie Sambora- All that really matters

Nobody knew what the song was, I never hear it play anywhere, but the words are just so fitting for a wedding.

And nobody mentioned Jeff Healey Angel Eyes. But that song has just been so overdone at weddings that I'm sick of it! lol
