I just wanted to add that a pump is a prescription item so, technically, it is illegal to give it to someone else. Furthermore, a pump might not be a good option because the recipient would have great difficulty getting additional pump supplies in Ghana.

I've got alot of extra stuff. Especially pen needles that we don't ever use anymore. I'd love to see them go someplace useful. Please PM me the address.

I don't think you mentioned glucagon kits. Do you want them?

    Hey Barb,

Just brainstorming here, but what about working with the local clinics and D association there to get a travelling library (or even a fixed one:rolleyes:), where the locals could go to get a minimum amount of info about T1 D?

BTW, 3 books will be on their way there soon. 2 outdated Ragnar books, and 1 Pink Panther (the abbreviated version).

I can see you going far with your objective.:)

I just put this on mmy facebook to collect stuff.

I'm thinking I'll wash all the meter covers in machine, wipe off meters with alcohol and boil lancet devices. I think I'll pack aextra battery in each meter as much as I can.

If I could give everyone a little knowlege...if you take out the new meters out of the boxes, and put individual meters, cases, booklets, and such, in a zip lock bag. So if you have two meters, two zip lock bags will be needed.

Less weight for shipping/smaller packaging box needed for you. AND when Barb takes them back home, zip lock bags wont have the weight as boxes and the plastic holding it all in place, and this will make every thing more compact

This will help Barb, so she also wont have the expense of ziplock bags, and taking the time to redo all the meters into bags.

Also if you label the zip lock bag, that will be useful too. As an example:

    One Touch ultra 2
    One Touch mini-purple
    One Touch mini-silver

    and so on......

I know this will help her ALOT!! Cause Barb and I have already talked about this!

Please PM me the address. I don't have much extras yet, but I'm sure I have some things that can be put to good use.

Barb, what you are doing is fantastic! D is a difficult enough disease, I cannot imagine trying to help my son through it without the proper supplies. Please PM me your address and I will see what I can do to contribute.

If you can send me your address, I'll see what I can hunt down.

Also, do you need meters? There are always free meters advertised at the drug stores, so I can start picking those up when I see them.

Don't know if this is legal, but can you contact the local JDRF and do a collection at your local Walk Site?

Please send you address and I will gather what I can!
