Iranian scientists have successfully mass-produced mix insulin, Lansulin 70/30, to fulfill the country's need for the medication.

Mix insulin consisting of 70% long acting insulin NPH and 30 % rapid-acting insulin is effective for type 1 and 2 diabetics, the managing director of Exir Pharmaceutical Co., Gholamhossein Farzandi claimed.

According to a recent study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, insulin mixtures are more effective in controlling diabetes and blood sugar levels compared to longer-lasting insulin and other forms of anti-diabetic medications.

Farzandi claimed that Iranian researchers also hope to mass-produce insulin pens in the near future.

More than 3 millions diabetics live in Iran. The disease has a 20 percent annual growth rate.
