Homework help...how much is too much?

    As a teacher, I appreciate it when parents help out with their child's homework. My own kids come home and forgot a part of a lesson or can't figure out a problem, and I readily help out. However, if they have no clue what they are doing, I will do it with them at my side as I instruct. I then send a note in to the teacher explaining that my child is struggling with this particular concept, could she please stay after school for extra assistance.

    Have you discussed it with your son's teacher? Last year, I talked about it with my DD's teacher and she set out what her expectations were about how much help would be needed and invited parents me to let her know when more help was needed.
