I just found out that Maxim's blood tests came back with a high Thyroid count. My husband is on medicine for life for this...is this hereditary?

    Melissa,
I believe it's very common for children with T1 to have this.
Are they going to retest him or put him on medicine now?

Thyroid conditions can be autoimmune, (and of course Type 1 is an autoimmune disease) and autoimmune disorders can definitely be a hereditary trait. I hear more hypothyroid (low thyroid) in conjunction with Type 1 however.

I think it's possible for thyroid problems to be hereditary. My mom and all 5 of her sisters all have low thyroid (hypothyroidism)

Hi Chris...yes, after seeing you post this I looked up Maxim's results again and he has lows not highs like Daddy...but I believe that it is likely that he got it from my husband (who was just diagnosed back in May). Thanks for sharing  to know!
