She failed her OGTT:( but her a1c was 5.2:)We are still waiting to see if she still tests positive for the autoantibodies.

What was her 2 hour number? They diagnosed me with diabetes at Trialnet -- they did the test twice just to make sure, but the lab results at the 2 hour mark were close to 300 both times which are diagnostic of D. (I had all the antibodies, too). So sorry.

My A1C at diagnosis was 5.7% and I have been on lantus only for 2 1/2 years. Long honeymoon. I got the flu recently and had to go on a little bit of novolog once a day or so. I hope you are able to get some answers soon. Has she been referred to an endo?

I missed the chance to say goodluck!

What is the OGTT test? Is that similar to a meal test?

OGTT is the oral glucose tolerance test.

What is phase 3 of the trialnet study? Is it oral insulin for the prevention of diabetes?

Phase 3 just means the third OGTT. Her two hour bs was over 200...I forgot the exact number. I'll get it Monday and post it here. They said it is not a dx at this time, we just need to check her bs in the mornings. She goes back in 6 months for another round of tests.

Andrew was dx'd with numbers in the low 200's and an A1C of 5.4ish.

I am so sorry. Two with D is hard to accept. Very unfair. Any chance she could have a very long honeymoon without having to start insulin? I will pray for that. That 5.2 A1c is fantastic!

Just curious, why hasn't she been diagnosed if she has had 2 lab tests where the results were over 200 at the 2 hour mark? That's officially how a clinical diagnosis is made.

Many times, doctors will not refer to past records to see if tests were run before. I would remind them of the other OGTT Test Results.
