has anyone had ear tubes put in while awake?

    CC's going in this afternoon for ear tubes. She had them when she was little and was put under. How bad is it to have it done while awake? She's very nervous. I wasn't until today. Probably because I'm worrying about her worrying.

    The doctor told her they would numb her eardrum and the worst part is when they vacuum the fluid out. He said it's not painful, just loud.

    I'd be interested in hearing others experiences.

    I have personally had a tube put in one ear as an adult. It did not hurt at all. Funny feeling and yes, there were some strange noises. I did not have any fluid that had to be drained though. I hope that helps!

    Thanks Susan. I really think she'll do just fine. She's just letting her nerves get the best of her.

    No problem. It does make you very nervous!!! It is a strange sensation, but I didnt feel any pain.
