Our school district had it's diabetes walk today. The walk started 6 years ago and was so tiny and has grown so much that it had to be moved to the high school track this year! My heart really swelled this time though because my son's best buddy joined him this year! It meant the world to him--and to me!

That's awesome! We're doing a JDRF walk this fall. I think it will mean a lot to be walking with so many others who are affected by diabetes.

Being at walks was very meaningful for us right after Hanna was dxd, but also very emotional. I had walked previously for breastcancer which my mom had and survived. I had walked for MS which my dad has. To be at a large gathering of people walking for a disease that my child had was both thrilling and devastating. That my daughter has a disease that people walk for was very hard to accept.
