We had an appointment yesterday and on the way home Nathan leaned forward in the back seat (we are borrowing my mother's car and he loves having such easy access to me--he normally is in the way back of a Suburban) and told me he was wondering about something. I asked what and he said, "I am wondering if my diabetes is ever going to just go away?". (We have talked many times about how it's forever but it has been awhile and he must have either forgotten or hoped the situation changed.) When I answered him yesterday and told him that, "No, unfortunately, diabetes doesn't just go away." he said---

"Well. That SUCKS!!!" and went back to tickling his little sister.

There are a whole slew of people who would agree whole heartedly with that statement every day.
