The chances of celiac actually increase when you are type 1. I have one daughter with each and both have increased chances of getting the other because they are auto-immune diseases. My daughter was 5 at the time we discovered she couldn't tolerate gluten (later a biopsy was positive for celiac). She had atypical symptoms... dry, red hands, smelly feet, irritable behavior and some common ones distended belly and her growth slowed to a snails pace...
