Statistics show that the number of diabetes sufferers will increase from 240 million in 2007 to 380 million in 2025; a new study, however, revealed that more than 60 percent of these cases will be in Asia, the world's fastest growing region with low- and middle-income countries.

According to the study published in the Journal of American Medicine Association , Asian women, unlike their Western white counterparts, are two- to three-times more likely to have gestational diabetes.
