It is looking more and more like I'm going to be dx with RA (can't see the specialist until mayish) and I was just wondering if anyone has any experiences dealing with both diseases =(

Hi Jess I don't really have any advice, but I wanted to say I am sorry about the RA dx. I just had my DD tested for JRA this week. For almost a month DD has been complaining her fingers are stiff and ache in the morning. The test was negative, but I am keeping track of any complaints she makes about joint pain. I did some reading online prior to bringing DD to her drs. Some home remedies include hot/cold compresses, massage, and warm baths. I posted on CWD earlier asking if they're any other CWD with JRA....there didn't appear to be any t1 members, but there was some advice on acupuncture therapy.

I hope there is a cancellation so you can see a specialist sooner. Sending prayers. :cwds:

Thanks Mommyforlife, unfortunatly because I am a college student who live 5 hours away from home I can't jump to go if there is a cancellation. Honestly though, even though waiting sucks I think it is probably for the best because then I can figure out all this stuff once I'm at home with my parents and not worrying about school. I hope your daughter starts to feel better!

I have arthritis. I've been tested for rheumatoid arthritis markers a few times over the years, and I don't have them. I don't have any of the antibodies and my inflammation markers are consistently normal or below normal.

However, the affected joints are the middle and pinkie finger joints on both hands, the pointer finger of one hand, both wrists, and one knee. As my rheumatologist says, those are RA joints. I have pretty visible nodules on the affected fingers, and at times the swelling in my wrists and along my forearms has been very visible and dramatic.

It has been almost two years since one hand abruptly swelled up and hurt, with the other following within the week. The knee's been hurting for six years. With the hands, I got initial misdiagnoses of diabetic neuropathy and carpal tunnel, but I don't have either one.

Right now, I'm intermittently taking topical voltaren and intermittently using splints and that's all.
