We just got ours and from what I can tell, it is a new one. LOL, it's still in the box so I can't crack it open to see. It may look thinner because it's cleaner and shinier :welcoming:

Oh, this IS exiting news! Thanks for posting, I hadn't heard anything about it and yes, it really does look considerably flatter. Now we just have to wait till December

You can open the box. You just can't remove the transmitter from the seat.

I saw a picture of the new box. It has a sticker on it that says something like "new thinner transmitter"

I'm due in November. This almost makes me hope it dies early.

I opened it, I meant I can't crack it out of the holder. From what I can see it does look thinner. Or, it could just be that it's cleaner and not as beat up as our current one. What does she do to that thing to make it look so worn out??

I've heard Dexcom's CEO in interviews say the G5 would have a thinner transmitter. Maybe development progressed faster than expected or they were able to release the transmitter without it going through the FDA with the G5 system.

I don't understand why they kept - are keeping it so quite. For most of us a thinner transmitter is a big thing!

We got a Low Battery Alert yesterday, so I called to order a new transmitter. I commented to the customer service person that I'd heard that thinner ones were being shipped out. She said, "No, not yet." I didn't argue.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't end up with a transmitter from the last "batch" of thick transmitters that they're trying to unload. If by chance you do, I'd send it back and ask for the new and improved version.

The old Dexcom had a much thinner transmitter. My Daughter hates the bigger G4 version. Big difference in the shape under her clothes, the weight of it pulling on her arm, and how it catches on things. So much so that I'll buy a new thinner transmitter when we can in December and not even open the spare transmitter we've had waiting for the current one to die.
