Okay maybe I am overly sensitive but I do not even typically use 100 units of insulin a day, this doctor misinterpreted (insisted on) the fact that the old box of insulin (which I brought to show her) said 100U/ML somehow meant I used 100 units of insulin a day (She looked visibly perturbed when I explained all insulin sold in Canada is U100) Even though I explained I am on CSII, and the old box had the instructions simply stated ?for use with insulin pump?, I wound up with three boxes of insulin with these instructions, which are apparently are to go home and kill myself View attachment 2300
Well...at least YOU know better. Our prescription states that dd uses up to 100u per day but the label says 'use as directed by physician.' The prescription is worded so we can get 3 bottles per month with only a single $50 copay. I'm actually very grateful. With our old prescription we had to pay a $50 copay per bottle.
ROFL! You know that old joke about what you call the person who graduates last in his class at medical school, right? (Answer: Doctor.)
OMG...there should be a warning on this post...I took a sip of my milk just as I read this line and nearly choked to death in an effort to not spit milk all over my laptop.
Double wow -- the pharmacist didn't even question that as he transferred it over? Love your last line, by the way.
I almost killed myself laughing! Though... it's not funny, really, at all that any doctors would think this way.
My apidra RX states "use as directed in insulin pump, up to 133u/day"... I was getting 4 vials a month, MOST of the time I only use 2 and barely get into a 3rd vial, but there was a stretch where the 3rd was just not quite enough.. so I got my RX done for more. When I was only getting 3, it said 100u/day. When I get a new RX, it's always written for the units per day that amount to the total number of vials that I want.. it's easier that way, rather than arguing with the idiots at walgreens that yes I really can and do use more than one vial of insulin a month.
Like Sarah, my insulin says "Use via pump as directed, up to 80 units/day." I typically use more like 30 units/day, but they like me to have extra- and I like not paying the copay every month! That is bizarre. Good thing you know better.
It is weird but maybe it's just the Drs way of making sure you don't have issues with getting the scrip refilled as often as needed.
Well I know some people with type 2 who do that but it is with Lantus and they split the dose. I take one prescription and on the front of the bottle it says take at bedtime. On the side it says take with meals. Does that mean I have to eat in bed so I can take the pill at bedtime and at the meal at the same time? No really do pharmacists look at what they put on prescription labels?
100 units! Ok let's see if Ashleigh took 100 units of novolog per day. That would mean she would have to eat 1,500 carbs per day Yikes. talk about putting the weight back on LOL!
