Default Sometimes I wish this website had a place for status updates!

Cause sometimes I want to say things that 90% of my facebook friends would NOT get at all! Here's my status update today:

~~I'm so happy that last year I made a file called "holiday recipe carb count", because cooking is a joy this year not having to worry about that little detail.~~

Seriously a note to newbies: meticulously carb count all your tried and true holiday favorites and make a notebook or file of them per serving. It's a pain the first year but subsequent years you are able to enjoy the fun of cooking (if you enjoy cooking that is!).

What's your status update today that only we would get? Share!

I wrote down a list Thanksgiving last year of each of our holiday foods. I wrote down how many carbs each food is per oz. So glad I did that.

My status today has nothing to do with D, It has to do with my own conditions. But you all would get my status for yesterday, so this was it.

"Day 21. Today's Thankfulness is brought to you by the letters A1C and the number 6.8 For those who don't know 6.8 is VERY good. The definition is as follows -A1C (AY-WUHN-SEE):a test that measures a person's average blood glucose level over the past 2 to 3 months. Hemoglobin is the part of a red blood cell that carries oxygen to the cells and sometimes joins with the glucose in the bloodstream. Also called hemoglobin A1C or glycosylated hemoglobin, the test shows the amount of glucose that sticks to the red blood cell, which is proportional to the amount of glucose in the blood. Results are given as a percentage or as an average glucose value, called an estimated average glucose."

"I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. I actually write the carb guesstimates on the recipes themselves - my cook books are full of them!

I also always say this, every year, but I cook more non-standard things during the holidays. So if I am not sure of the carbs, I find a similar recipe on AllRecipes and view the nutritional data...and then write it on the recipe

One of my FB statuses (yes, I was a bit unproductive today ) probably would have been more appropriate over here on CWD. I make handmade nut wreaths to sell on Etsy, and I've been enlisting my family members to help me gather nuts before winter makes it too cold to find nuts on the ground.

"Brian (my DH with D) was low during the night after intense cardio in the evening. He woke up when he realized that he was dreaming about negotiating shipping rates, and the currency was nuts. As in 4.5 acorns per load. He said he could not figure out why he was negotiating in nuts. In the midst of his crazy nut dream, he realized that negotiating in nut currency really doesn't make any sense. He knew he was low and woke himself up to treat. Weird, huh?"

Thanks for the tip!

FWIW, my latest FB status is "Time to feed the gnomes."

ETA - you can make lists on FB. I have a CWD list, so anything D-related is restricted to this list only.

You can create a list on FB, and post specifically to, just your D friends.
