Default Dr. Oz 's comments

Dr Oz, was talking to a type 1 who was in the hospital who was on dialysis and her foot and other leg amputated.

The type 1 said when she was young she thought she could eat anything she wanted like cake etc and just give insulin. She said it didn't work. Glad my kids were not in the room for that. Now all those teachers see my son eating her lunch and remembering me saying it is okay if he gives insulin.

Sorry for the spelling errors.

I couldn't watch it - I'm DVRing it and maybe, maybe will watch. In the first 3 min when they started in on how expensive D is and how it's going to bankrupt the health care industry I just wanted to scream. Great, now folks can assume that our kids did this to themselves, shouldn't eat carbs AND are the reason the health care system is collapsing. "Thanks", Oprah, "thanks a lot" that's just great

I know Carol, I turned the channel to something else and havent bothered to turn it back. Hes only going to talk about type 2 and the complications from diabetes. Not research, not type 1 being an autoimmune disease. Not the fact that type 1s can eat sugar as long as they take the appropriate amount of insulin and test often. The whole show is for shock value, to get viewers attention.

The reality is though that everything they said is true - about Type 2. It is a growing epidemic in this country, and in most cases it is due to weight and obesity. So, the only thing they did was NOT differentiate. The reality is that any conversations in that type of venue are going to be about Type 2.

If someone asks me a question in that context, its a simple response - that's Type 2, its different than what Emma has - and move on.

After the poor woman in the hospital I had to turn it off. It is so depressing and one sided I cannot watch another minute. Very quick mention of differences between 1 and 2. I am glad my son was nowhere near the TV. I will take some time to recover from her situation.

I was wondering why Dr.Oz, a cardiac surgeon, was chosen to be the expert. Let's see, hmmm, maybe an endocrinologist could have offered a little more fact and education as opposed to sensationalism? If the show was about cardiac disease and diabete's effects on the heart, I could handle Dr. Oz being the spokesperson. I am so disappointed in this program. Now my kid has to put up with the fallout from this.

I had given up on Oprah a long time ago, I thought I would give it another chance today. Twenty minutes into the program and I was face-palming so much I gave myself a headache.

He just said "Smoking kills your pancreas".

I thought that was pretty funny .

Actually quitting smoking ups your risk of developing type 2 by 80%. It was on the BBC news site a couple of weeks ago.

I"m not a fan of Oz and won't watch it. I wouldn't expect them to do a great job about the different types as it just doesn't get the ratings
