Smile Yet another use for pod batteries

My son really wants these little robots. And part of his argument is that his pod batteries will work in them.

Cool! I think they would win Nathan over for the Pod.

Has anyone used them for anything?

I ask because I began taking them out a long time ago after I dismantled one and tested the batteries - they showed full voltage. I tried them in a device I thought used them but it didn't work. I assumed they were mostly spent.

Hello all,
Just a quick FYI (in case nobody has posted this yet). I use the Omnipod and Navigator and have discovered that the batteries (357) in a used Omnipod are compatible with the Navigators transmitter. Even after powering the pod for a few days they register as 75-100% charged.

We use them in the Navigator too. My hubby checked them and they are nearly full voltage. They're so redundant with 3 and they're only used for 3 days, so most of the juice is still there. Now, we're always flush with Nav batteries. They work much better than the batteries that come with the sensors.

We found that they work for a little LED flashlight we have. It's a common battery type.

He has been talking about making his own nano robot too. He went around pricing parts and trying to figure out what type of toothbrush he'd need. I have a feeling his dad will put the nix on buying them and want him to make them anyway.

Sooz, Have you guys ever taken a pod apart? If not, you should because they're pretty cool inside. A parent put up photos a while ago on CWD that were really good and showed close-ups of the inside.

There are 3 button batteries in each pod. There's no room for failure with a pump, so they overdo it. We've tested the voltage after they come out and they're nearly fully charged. So, we take them out of used pods about half the time. They fit the Nav transmitter, so they're great for that. But they're useful for all sorts of other things too, because they're a common battery.

I'm a blitz-brain. There are 4 batteries.

I found the post of the photos of the inside.

That is so cool buggle, thank you for explaining it. I loved the links for the toothbrush bug too! I put a link to EvilMadScientist.com on my facebook. What a great project and a great site! So many interesting things there. (The toothbrush bug site gave credit to evilmadscientist.com so I looked it up) My husband is an engineer so Im going to put him to work making things with the old batteries!
