Default Starting to complain about testing

So we were dx pretty young and my DD is now 2 and is starting to complain about BG tests. Last night we had to (pretend) test mommy, her nose, ear and other spots. Hopefully it is only a stage and won't last since we have a whole lifetime to go.

I believe children go through stages and this may be one of them. Also, is it a specific complaint, such as pain? If so, have you tried other lancing devices or meters that may need less blood, such as the Freestyle?

Is it that she doesnt want to take the time out from play? My son will complain about that now For a very young child maybe you could incorporate it into the game, testing dolls and stuffed animals then its Addi's turn. Does she have any interest in trying to lance her finger herself? I know she is so young but maybe she would like to try that

What about positive rewards? Like stickers or something? I know my two youngest would be over the moon to get a sticker for something they didn't like doing... of course used too often the sticker rewards lose their magic appeal.

I second the suggestion to try other lancing devices... I've used a lot of different ones and some definitely hurt less than others, even with the "same" lancets.

Its a little of both. We currently us the microlet 2 lancing device and the BD ultra fine lancets. I have ordered a box of tiniboy lancets to try. They seem to be getting pretty good reviews on here. I haven't tried the multiclix but it seems to get pretty good reviews too. I like the thinner lancets though. I noticed the larger gauge ones took longer to heal.

Thank you for the ideas.
