Default amoxicillin

hi
my daughter is on amoxicillin 400 mg/5ml for her cough...its the oral pink colour suspension...now i am wondering that it looks sticky and sweet,what is the amount of sugar in it..
i called the pharmacy,she said that she doesnt see any specification on the medicine for sugar..
maanya was high in the night post medicine all night...
wht do u guys say...what should i do?
amoxicillin 2 times 400 mg/5 ml pink suspension...

I would say at most, 2 carbs, probably negligible, unless your child is very very young.

If I remeber right when John was on an antibiotic (don't remember which it was) if it has sucrose in it this is a form of sugar and raised his BG. I couldn't find it on the pamphlet they give you but you can call the pharmacy to see if they know.

i called pharmacist ,she said she doesnot see any numbers for the sugar/sweetness..

I don't know the answer to that. I would assume the illness itself is causing insulin resistance and leading to higher BGs.
The best bet would be to put in a call to your pediatrician or even your endo as ask how to deal with this.

Seems to be 0.06grs carbs per dosage unit. Very little, IMO.
